Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences

Latin and Greek

Some humanities at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, such as history and musicology, require knowledge of Latin or Greek.

Requirements

UZH imparts this knowledge in modules of 6 ECTS credits each:

  • «Basic Latin»
  • «Latin II (Latinum)»
  • «Basic Greek»
  • «Greek II (Graecum)»

If these modules are part of your curriculum, you can take them during your studies.

We can recognize previous courses from high schools or other institutions if they are listed below. The Latin or Greek modules must be compulsory modules of your program in order to do this. Instead of the module in Latin or Greek, you complete other coursework to the extent of the recognized ECTS credits. Where you compensate the modules depends on the study plan.
